Avery “AVG” Jacobs is a multi-talented R&B artist, producer, and educator originally from Williamsburg, Virginia. His musical journey began in middle school with the trumpet, but it was the drums that quickly became his primary focus. Throughout his grade school years and into college, AVG specialized in marching, orchestral, and jazz drumming—developing a deep foundation in rhythm, ensemble performance, and musical discipline.

He attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in percussion. While at VSU, he expanded his coursework into music composition, arrangement, and audio engineering/production, setting the stage for a multifaceted career in music. In addition to his formal training, AVG is a self-taught bassist, guitarist, and vocalist further rounding out his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist.

AVG spent several years in Charlotte, NC, where he built a strong reputation and professional network as a gigging musician, recording engineer, music producer, public school music educator, and private instrumental/vocal coach. With over 8 years of teaching experience in both public and private settings, he has directed school band ensembles, taught instrumental music and theory, and mentored aspiring young students and artists. His performance résumé includes more than 15 years in a range of ensemble settings, including jazz bands, marching bands, orchestras, and modern performance groups.

As a producer and recording artist, AVG brings over a decade of experience in beat-making, studio production, and collaborative recording projects. He has worked with a wide range of artists across Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, and now Los Angeles—helping shape projects from the ground up through writing, arranging, and engineering.

Based in Los Angeles, AVG is emerging as a solo R&B singer-songwriter, producer, & keyboardist. Drawing from his rich musical background, he fuses soulful melodies with thoughtful production and live instrumentation. Over the past two years, he has been actively performing in the Los Angeles ares and continuing to build momentum as a dynamic and expressive voice in modern R&B.
